ABOUT US
About Us
Air Bike Tours is a boutique cycle tour operator based in Hokkaido, Japan. We offer cycling tours in Japan your way, either journey-type guided or self-guided with daily luggage transfers, catering to small or larger groups. While we focus on the northern regions, Hokkaido and Tohoku, we also craft tours in Kyushu and other regions across Japan.
Our mission is to transport our riders to some of Japan’s most enchanting regions. You will stay in a variety of accommodations, from small boutique inns to medium-sized hotels and traditional ryokans, all of them equally welcoming and many featuring soothing onsens.
Expect immersive experiences including opportunities to partake in cultural activities and sample a wide selection of local culinary delights unique to whichever region you find yourself.
Gareth and Rika have visited around 60 countries between them, bike-packing through many notably Cuba, Mexico and all of Central America as well as Southern African including: Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa.

Our Philosophy
We believe a cycling holiday should never feel rushed. We stop for photographs, local conversations, coffee, fresh food and unexpected discoveries. The journey is every bit as important as the destination.
“Gareth & Rika were such great hosts at their wonderful Air Furano base . We opted for the “playground of the gods” self guided bike tour which did not disappoint . Simply an amazing experience in a beautiful part of the world .”
