ACCOMMODATION ON CYCLING TOURS JAPAN

Your accommodation is an essential part of your cycling adventure, a place to rest, recharge, and experience the local culture and hospitality that make Japan such a memorable destination. On our tours, we have selected a variety of comfortable and character-filled lodgings that enhance your journey through Hokkaido, Tohoku, and beyond.

What to Expect on Tour

We carefully choose accommodations that strike a balance between comfort, local charm, and authenticity. Your stays typically include:

  • Traditional Japanese inns (ryokan): Experience classic tatami rooms, futons, and sometimes soothing onsen hot springs.

  • Small guesthouses and boutique hotels in Japan: Warm, welcoming places that reflect the character of the regions you are exploring. Check out our Air Furano hotel in Hokkaido.

  • Western-style hotels with modern amenities: Convenient and comfortable for city nights or longer stays.

Many of the properties we use are long-standing partners, giving you a consistently warm atmosphere and quality service throughout your tour.

All accommodations are equipped with full amenities (ex: toiletries, laundry facilities, Japanese-style samue pajamas/yukata robes to be worn around the accommodation, so you don’t need to bring too much in the way of evening wear).

Air Furano, Our Home Base in Hokkaido

In Hokkaido, many of our tours start at Air Furano, our own welcoming hotel located in the heart of Furano. Designed with cyclists in mind, Air Furano offers a comfortable and relaxed base surrounded by rolling countryside, flower fields, and some of Hokkaido’s best riding.

Guests at Air Furano enjoy thoughtfully designed rooms, cyclist-friendly facilities, and easy access to quiet roads and scenic routes straight from the door. Staying at our own hotel allows us to offer a more personal experience, with local knowledge, flexible support, and a warm atmosphere that reflects the spirit of cycling in northern Japan.

After a Day on the Bike

After a day of cycling Japan’s scenic roads, your accommodation becomes more than just a bed, it is a place to relax and enjoy local culture:

  • Hot springs (onsen): Select inns offer private or shared onsen, perfect for soothing tired muscles.

  • Evening meals: Many ryokan and hotels serve regional cuisine that highlights local specialties and fresh seasonal produce.

  • Comfortable shared spaces: Enjoy conversations with fellow riders or take a quiet moment with a view of the surrounding landscape.
