Experience the best of Central Hokkaido in just 5 days! This self-guided cycling tour combines scenic rural roads, beautiful mountain views, carefully selected overnight stops, and unforgettable local food experiences into a compact adventure designed for riders with limited time.
Along the way, enjoy Hokkaido’s famous fresh produce, dairy products, seafood, countryside cafés, and regional cuisine while riding through some of Japan’s most spectacular landscapes.
Ride at your own pace with GPS navigation, luggage transfers, and the freedom to fully enjoy one of Japan’s most rewarding cycling regions while cycling light.
Day 1 - Arrival & Orientation
Arrival Day
Location: Air Furano , our base

Your Hokkaido adventure begins. Settle into a comfy Furano accommodation, meet your bike, and get acquainted with the roads ahead. The evening is yours. Explore the town or simply unwind.

Arrive well-rested, the riding starts properly tomorrow!
Day 2 - The Furano Loop
First Cycling Day
Location: Furano valley
A full day discovering the best of Furano, patchwork fields, fresh local produce, and that famous big-sky scenery. Return to your Furano Hotel and eat at one of the town's excellent local restaurants.
Highlights: Patchwork fields, local food stops, stress-free 2nd night at your Furano hotel (no need to repack)
Day 3 - Traversing Onsen Country
Second Cycling Day
Location: Furano → Biei Shirogane Onsen
Discover the full delights of the Furano-Biei valley before winding towards the spa town of Shirogane Onsen, nestled at the foot of the Tokachidake Mountain Range.
Highlights: Naka Furano, Kami Furano, Biei. Enjoy the majestic "White Beard" waterfall and blue river, moments from your hotel.
Day 4 - Biei's Rolling Hills
Third Cycling Day
Location: Biei area
Biei is Hokkaido at its picture postcard best - gentle hills quilted in crops, galleries tucked into farmhouses, and roadside stalls piled with fresh vegetables. One of the most beautiful cycling areas in Japan.
Highlights: Blue Pond, Biei scenery, art galleries, fresh local produce, second night at Shirogane Onsen
The Blue Pond is at its most dramatic in morning light, worth timing your approach. Enjoy the majestic waterfall moments from your hotel.
Day 5 - The Flower Finale
Last Cycling Day
Location: Naka Furano & beyond
A fitting send-off: roadside cafés, the sweeping Panoramic Road, vegetable farms bursting with colour, and the legendary lavender and seasonal flower fields of Naka Furano. The tour finishes at 2pm in Furano. You can extend with an optional extra night.
